Dear, U.S congress Tiktok is an app we all grew to love. We are writing to express our thoughts on the Tiktok ban, an app that many depend on, not just to scroll through. It’s an app that has serviceable information. In today’s world, Tiktok is more relevant than ever because it is the most used app within teens and young adults. It helps educate people on topics like politics, social issues, and skills needed in everyday life. So banning the app would be catastrophic for teens and young adults around the world. 

Research shows that about half the U.S adults tik tok users dependent on tiktok for news. So banning it would leave us less informed about the political world today.According to Pew Research Center the percentage of adults who rely on tiktok for news is 52%. Both parties use it as well, not only one. 55% of watchers are democrat, well 39% are republicans. Besides it being used for political use it is used for educational purposes. In the article “Teaching with Tik Tok” by Study.com they have found that 69% of tik tok users use it for school purposes. Saying that it has helped complete school work. It is said that 1 in 4 Americans use TikTok to improve their education. But TikTok has also helped save lives. Sapna Maheshwari wrote an article for New York Times about a woman named Katie. The article states Katie was diagnosed with an illness that made her kidney fail. She went on TikTok and talked about it. Soon Katie found a match for her transplant because of a wonderful stangre on TikTok!

Although a common misconception is that Tiktok is ruining adolescents’ brains , it is not true. TikTok is teaching new things that are not always taught in schools. Making it easier for adolescents to study. Tiktok is not only used to watch funny videos but it is also used as a tool many have grown to depend on. If it’s for learning about politics today or even used to learn new cooking recipes. So we encourage others to speak up about this because it is important to stay well informed in today’s political world.Thank you, for taking the time to read our thoughts on this matter
