(The video game Pong)

Gaming has always been a world of endless possibilities because of the technology developed overtime. From Pong and Tetris all the way to games like Elden Ring and Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Gaming has always been a big part of mine and a lot of other people’s lives growing up and a select few of games actually leave big impacts on your life, here are the games that have left me with the most impact. 

Number 3

Red Dead Redemption 2 is the second game in its franchise if you don’t count the spin off games. Red Dead 2 takes place before the first game and features a new main character. The year is 1899 in a fictionalized version of the United States. You play as the 36 year old Arthur Morgan. The game is split into multiple different chapters in which the Van Der Linde Gang slowly goes downhill. In chapter 1 the gang’s all united and happy together, by the end of the last chapter the gang is split into two sides that turn on each other. One side includes the characters that end up on the bad side. And the other side includes the good characters such as Arthur the main character. Although no characters in the gang are truly good people, some are just better people than others. Throughout the game the Dutch Van Der Linde Gang does things like bank heists or killings of the main opposing gang, The O’Driscolls. Red Dead 2 is a pretty long game with my first playthrough of the game being 90 hours long. This game has a perfect story, great graphics, a great open world, and even better characters that you actually care for. Red Dead 2 isn’t challenging and is a great game that almost anyone can play.

Number 2

God of War Ragnarok is the direct sequel to God Of War 2018. God of War Ragnarok is about the God Of War known as Kratos. Kratos has a background of being feared and being known as one of the bad gods due to his actions in the previous games. In God of War 2018 and Ragnarok, Kratos has been slowly redeeming himself for him and his son Atreus. Kratos also carries his best friend Mimir’s living head on his hip. Mimir is one of my favorite side characters in video games. This game takes place in a fictional Norse Mythology world with different realms, the main one being Midgard and is during the season of Fimbulwinter. The main bad guys in this game consist of other gods. These gods include Odin, Thor, and Heimdall. Through the game Kratos goes through different realms finding allies to be of help when Ragnarok occurs, Kratos becomes allies with different kinds of people and his main ally becomes a god named Freya which he had already met in the previous game. Freya and Kratos are developing feelings for each other but nothing is really confirmed in this game. By the end of the game Ragnarok does end up happening which leads to a massive fight between the people of the different realms. The God Of War series consists of multiple different games but you don’t have to play them all to play this one. To play this game you need to play GOW 2018 and you can then move onto this one. God of War Ragnarok was nominated for game of the year in 2022, with this game’s amazing graphics, great story, and really fun gameplay it is a great game anyone can play and enjoy.

Number 1

The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild released on March 3rd 2017, Breath of The Wild was a launch title for the Nintendo Switch which was definitely a big selling factor. Breath of The Wild has sold about 32 million copies and for a good reason. This game has the best exploration, dungeons, and one of the best main characters of all time. The game starts off as Link 100 years after the fall of the Hyrule Kingdom after Calamity Ganon destroyed it all. Throughout the game you are tasked to save Princess Zelda and go into the four Divine Beasts which are scattered around different regions of Hyrule. Meanwhile completing these tasks, many more side tasks and mini dungeons can be explored. The mini dungeons are called shrines and these shrines are one of my favorite parts of the game. By the end of the game Link finally defeats Ganon and restores Hyrule and rescues Princess Zelda. Breath of The Wild is a game that anyone can enjoy. This game truly brought a lot of joy to my life and it may do the same for you!
