Dear President Trump,
Have you ever had to sit down with your parents to talk about what to do in case one day you came home to find out your parents got deported? With tears in your eyes, hoping this wouldn’t happen, praying this would be a joke and isn’t really happening. No? Well, this is the case for many people now. In today’s world, mass deportation is more relevant than ever because of what you are doing to get the immigrants you call “aliens” out of the U.S. The same “aliens” that work so hard just to make a living. The same “aliens” that left everything behind to give their kids a better opportunity in life.
With that being said, it is clear that one of the main reasons we must address this issue is because what you are doing is wrong. In the span of 3 days you not only misused your power but also violated a court order. On this day, March 15, 2025, your administration successfully deported more than 200 Venezuelan immigrants to a prison in El Salvador for allegedly being gang members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. You deport them without a hearing, and you were given a verbal order by the judge to stop and turn the planes around. At the time of the order, the first plane was over Mexico, the second was over the Gulf of Mexico, and the third had not taken off yet. Despite this, you still didn’t turn the plane around. At 1:08 am the last plane landed in San Salvador, El Salvador.
You and President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador made an agreement to hold the immigrants in the prison for a multimillion-dollar payment, and all he said was, “oopsie… Too late.”And to think this is only one thing you have done to deport immigrants. There are kids dying in schools! A place that is supposed to be safe but isn’t because of all the excessive gun violence. The economy is plummeting because of all the money you are wasting trying to deport all immigrants. Instead of focusing on gun violence in schools, you’re so focused on deporting all immigrants. The government must take action on more important problems going on, not wasting money needed elsewhere. Stop the gun violence! Make this place better, not worse than it already is! Stop making adults and kids live in fear! It hasn’t even been four months since you returned to office. I can’t imagine the amount of things you are going to do in 4 years from now. If you are going to do your job, do it right.
Signed,
Jessica
