Maurice Jones-Drew ranked 39th most powerful athlete

Bloomberg Businessweek has released its list of the 100 most powerful athletes for 2012, and Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is on the list.

Jones-Drew, the only Jaguars player on the list, is ranked 39th in the Power 100, up from 92nd last year.

Below is Businessweek’s explanation of why Jones-Drew is on the list:

“Maurice Jones-Drew is an explosive, pint-sized, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with all the moves to dodge the behemoths. He carried the Jaguars in 2011 with his league-leading 1,606 yards, accounting for 39 percent of the total offensive yards for the team. He remains popular off the field with his own fantasy football show on SiriusXM.”

In case you’re wondering who ranked number one on the list, it’s New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
