While the crowd at Tuesday night’s “Ready to Rise Rally” made it perfectly clear they want head coach Mike Mularkey to hire former Jaguars wideout Keenan McCardell as his wide receivers coach, he has yet to fill the position. However, two former Jaguars have joined Mularkey’s staff, according to reports.
Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports that former Jaguars Paul Spicer and Marlon McCree have been added to the coaching staff.
Spicer spent eight years at defensive end for the Jaguars, from 2000-2008, accumulating 252 total tackles and 28.5 sacks. He spent last season as an intern helping coach the defensive line, and has been brought on as an assistant defensive line coach for the 2012 season.
McCree, a seventh-round draft pick by the Jaguars in 2001, spent three seasons at safety for the team before moving on to play for four more teams during his nine-year career. McCree has spent the last two seasons as an intern in the NFL, first for the New York Giants, and then for the Denver Broncos. McCree will serve as an assistant defensive backs coach with the Jaguars.
